Season Without Flowers

April showers bring May flowers, at least I’m hoping and looking for those first tulip and daffodil buds to break through.  The land will become fragrant again with the first lilacs budding out in early May.  Asiatic lilies and orientals are a delight come June.  And the gardens explode with color mid summer as humming birds and song birds litter the landscape with their colorful presence.  Soon it will be time to enjoy the morning sunrise with coffee on the deck with my trusty lab warming my feet.     And oh how I imagine each and every flower petal with light dew moistening the scented dawn of day.  But today, well, today the landscape is quite bare and brown.  Waiting.  Waiting.  Waiting as the season without flowers comes to its close.
